The inauguration ceremony of the exascale supercomputer JUPITER will take place on
Friday, 5 September 2025, from 13:00 at Forschungszentrum Jülich.
(Stage programme from 14:00 to 15:30 followed by a subsequent get-together)

With the launch of JUPITER, Europe’s first exascale supercomputer will go into operation at Forschungszentrum Jülich. JUPITER is set to be the first supercomputer in Europe to surpass the threshold of 1 quintillion (a ”1” with 18 zeros) floating-point operations per second. Designed and operated by the Jülich Supercomputing Centre, JUPITER will mark a new era in supercomputing in Germany and Europe.

By unlocking unprecedented opportunities in artificial intelligence, data analysis, and simulation, JUPITER will help secure Germany’s and Europe’s leadership in academic and industrial research as well as our technological and digital sovereignty. JUPITER will also contribute to developing new solutions to major challenges in areas such as climate, energy, health, materials, mobility, and civil safety.
